Josef Newgarden and the No. 1 Hitachi Chevrolet just narrowly beat teammate Will Power and the No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet for the Verizon P1 Pole Award at Barber Motorsports Park for tomorrow’s race. The two will start on the front row after running impressive laps during the Saturday afternoon group qualifying session at the Leeds, Ala. road course. Simon Pagenaud and the No. 22 Menards Chevrolet found great speed in Round 1 of qualifying but did not find enough to advance beyond Round 2. He will start from the ninth position tomorrow.
