Notes:  Defending Verizon IndyCar Series Champion Josef Newgarden qualified third while all three Penske Chevrolets qualified in the top eight f or Sunday's season finale at Sonoma Raceway.  Newgarden, despite battling a bad case of food poisoning all weekend, ran his fastest lap of round three just as time expired to qualify the No. 1 Verizon Chevrolet third for Sunday's event.  Will Power, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet, and Simon Pagenaud, driver of the No. 22 DXC Technology Chevrolet, both made it to round two, but were the first two drivers eliminated.  They will start seventh and eighth respectively.
