- It’s been a near perfect weekend so far for Josef Newgarden and the No. 1 Verizon Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet team as they led two practice sessions yesterday and captured the pole today for tomorrow’s Verizon IndyCar Series Kohler Grand Prix at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis. With an average speed of 140.020 mph and a 1:43.2026 lap time, they are looking fast and will start from the front row for tomorrow’s race. Will Power and the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet also had a strong performance - just missing the pole by .005 seconds - but will start from the second position when the green flag drops. Simon Pagenaud and the No. 22 Menards Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet did not have the most ideal qualifying session as they ran 14th fastest during the session but plan to work hard to battle toward the front during the race.
