The Brickyard Weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) is a race fan's dream weekend, bringing together the stars of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the NASCAR Cup Series at one venue. They both compete on the 14-turn, 2.439-mile circuit inside of the most famous racetrack in the world, a place where Team Penske has won eight of the 14 NICS races contested on the road course.

The two-day race weekend featured a busy Friday with two practices and a qualifying session ahead of Saturday's 85-lap event. Scott McLaughlin was the top Team Penske performer on the day as he finished with the sixth and third fastest times, respectively, in the two practice sessions while qualifying his No. 3 Gallagher Chevrolet in the 11th position. Following grid penalties to other competitors, McLaughlin will start 10th tomorrow. Five-time IMS Road Course winner Will Power will roll his No. 12 Verizon 5G Chevrolet from the 16th position, with 2020 race winner Josef Newgarden starting in the 19th position in his No. 2 Hitachi Chevrolet. Power also moved up one position on the starting grid due to penalties to other competitors.

WHAT THEY SAID - "Not a bad day for the Gallagher Chevy. We roll of P10 tomorrow after the grid penalties. We weren't the fastest in qualifying, but we have made some inroads in figuring out the balance we need here on the Indy road course compared to other road courses. I think we'll have a really good racecar but need to work some more on outright pace for qualifying. Still a lot of work to be done but starting in the top 10 is not a bad thing."- Scott McLaughlin

WHAT'S NEXT - Coverage of the Gallagher Grand Prix begins tomorrow at 2:00 pm ET on USA Network, Peacock, Sirius XM Channel 209 and INDYCAR Radio
