MCLAUGHLIN UNHARMED Scott McLaughlin took a wild ride in the practice session for the top 12 qualifiers from Saturday. While on the last lap of his four-lap qualifying simulation, the backend of his No. 3 Pennzoil Chevrolet came around on the exit of the second turn, making heavy contact with the outside wall. McLaughlin was seen and released from the infield care center. His one-lap speed remained at the top of the speed charts through the end of the session.

QUALIFYING NOTE: None of the three Team Penske Chevys made an attempt in Top 12 qualifying on Sunday afternoon. McLaughlin will start next Sunday's race from the 10th position, followed by Newgarden in 11th and Power in 12th. Of the 20 Indy 500 wins by Team Penske, six have come from a starting position of 10th or lower. Most recently, Newgarden won the first Indy 500 of his career from the 17th starting position on the grid in 2023.
