NASCAR Cup Series Race Report - Watkins GlenAugust 10, 2025Go Bowling at The Glen - Watkins Glen International
START: 13TH RACE RUNDOWN: Austin Cindric and the No. 2 Snap-on Tools Ford Mustang team brought home a 16th-place finish in Sunday's Go Bowling at The Glen at Watkins Glen International. The race marked the debut of a special Snap-on Tools livery celebrating the company's 105th anniversary. Rolling off 13th, Cindric quickly reported his Mustang felt stronger than it had in practice and qualifying. The team made its first stop with four laps remaining in Stage 1 for four tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustment. He ended the opening segment in 18th and restarted 14th after staying out. The team again opted for a green-flag pit stop late in Stage 2 for fresh tires and fuel. He finished Stage 2 in the 27th spot and informed the team that the car felt a little more balanced. Having just pitted, the Snap-on Ford stayed on track during the caution period and lined up 17th for the restart on Lap 45. The final stage ran under long green-flag conditions, and Cindric made his last pit stop with 25 laps remaining for four tires and fuel. From there, he maintained steady pace to cross the line in 16th at the 2.45-mile road course. CINDRIC'S THOUGHTS: "Our Snap-on Tools Ford Mustang team stayed after it all day and kept working to try and make gains. We'll turn the page and get ready for some Saturday night racing at Richmond and keep building toward the playoffs."
START: 1ST RACE RUNDOWN: Ryan Blaney finished sixth in Sunday's Go Bowling at the Glen after leading 35 of the 90 laps. On Saturday, Blaney gave Team Penske its 150th NASCAR Cup pole position and took the lead from the start. He led the opening 18 circuits, before he flipped the stage when he came to pit road with two laps to go. Blaney would finish Stage 1 in the seventh position. He would restart first but try as he might would fall back to second as the cars went toward the bus stop chicane at the top of the hill. After setting a solid pace, Blaney and the Menards team would opt to chase a stage win, as the No. 12 car took the green-and-white checkered flag to win Stage 2. Blaney would stay out under the break and continue to lead on the alternate strategy. He would eventually be passed for the lead on lap 53. Blaney would battle a tight car in the closing laps of the event. With a slight advantage of newer Goodyear tires, Blaney would battle back for a sixth-place finish.
START: 11TH RACE RUNDOWN: Joey Logano started 11th and finished 14th in Sunday's Go Bowling at The Glen at Watkins Glen International in Upstate New York. At the initial green flag, Logano would fall back to 12th and report to crew chief, and New York native, Paul Wolfe the Shell-Pennzoil Mustang was on the tight side. Logano would remain in 12th and would flip the stage when he came to pit road on lap 17. He would finish Stage 1 in the 22nd position. With track position as the deciding factor in today's race, Logano would try to manage his rear tires better than the competition on long runs in the hope of making up ground later. The No. 22 crew would flip Stage 2 and Logano would finish 31st at the lap 40 conclusion. The Shell-Pennzoil Mustang managed to avoid slight dust ups in front and utilized fresher Goodyear tires to cross the line in 14th position at race's end. LOGANO'S THOUGHTS: "Track position was the name of the game for the Shell-Pennzoil Mustang. I think we made our car better, but once you're in dirty air it's tough. We'll get ready for Richmond. A track we've had great speed at in the past."
