Team Penske eSports eNASCAR Heat Pro League Race Report

Track:                  Virtual Watkins Glen International
Race:                   Round 2 – NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series
Date:                   April 29, 2020

No. 2 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Mustang – Brian Tedeschi (ShellVPower22)

Console: Xbox One
Start: 4th
Finish: 8th
Status: Running
Laps Completed: 24/24
Points: 9th (-33)

Notes:

  • Brian Tedeschi (ShellVPower22) looked to be in position for a top-five finish in Wednesday night’s eNASCAR Heat Pro League (eNHPL) race from virtual Watkins Glen International before a pit road speeding penalty late in the race dropped him to an eighth-place finish in the first NASCAR Gander Outdoor & RV Truck Series event for the eNHPL.
  • Following a solid fourth-place qualifying effort, Tedeschi settled into the front of the field. The Purdue University graduate engaged in some spirited racing with the No. 6 and No. 21 trucks as the field prepared for their final pit stops of the night.
  • Unfortunately, Tedeschi was caught speeding entering pit road on his final stop. He was hit with a pass-through penalty and the extra trip down pit lane dropped him to 13th in the field. A determined and exciting drive over the remaining laps gave Tedeschi an eighth-place finish at the checkered flag.

Quote:

“I honestly think this was the best race I’ve run on a road course. I fought in the top-five for most of the race despite consistently catching damage to the Shell-Pennzoil Ford that needed to be repaired on our pit stops. It was all just driver error on the last pit stop and I threw away a good finish. That’s unfortunate because a lot of work went into this race.”

No. 22 Wurth Ford Mustang – Corey Rothgeb (Wurth_2)

Console: PlayStation 4
Start: 13th
Finish: 8th
Status: Running
Laps Completed: 24/24
Points: 9th (-26)

Notes:

  • Corey Rothgeb (Wurth_2) drove a consistent race in Wednesday night’s eNASCAR Heat Pro League (eNHPL) race at virtual Watkins Glen International, coming from the back of the field to score an eighth-place finish.
  • After a wild start to the PlayStation 4 race, Rothgeb began his drive through the field. He quickly moved into the top-10 by the second lap and would maintain his position just outside the top five for the remainder of the race.
  • Over the final 10 laps of the race, Rothgeb was making up tremendous time on the trucks just in front of his No. 2 Wurth Ford F-150, but with no caution flags during the 24-lap event he was unable to make up any track position.
  • The next race for the eNHPL will be Wednesday, May 6 when the series will race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Dover International Speedway.

Quote:

"The No. 2 Wurth Ford looked great and was strong except for qualifying. We really just took our time the first couple of laps because I knew guys would be aggressive early on. I was able to pick up some spots early and then had to come to a complete stop to miss several trucks sitting sideways in the esses. With no cautions we just didn’t have enough time to make the positions back up.”
