INDYCAR Qualifying Report - Streets of TorontoJuly 15, 2023TRACK: STREETS OF TORONTO
Mother Nature decided to take part in the afternoon qualifying session with rain showers adding a variable to the already tough Toronto street circuit. With a mixture of Firestone primary, alternate and rain tires, all three Team Penske drivers transferred from the first round into the top 12. Unfortunately, Newgarden could not muster enough speed in his Snap-on machine and will start Sunday's race from the 11th position. In a chaotic Firestone Fast Six round, both Power and McLaughlin spent time moving up and down the time sheet. When it was over, McLaughlin tied his season-best starting position of second with Power finishing sixth in the final round. WHAT THEY SAID - "Overall, it was a great day for us. We start second which is another street course front row start. Really loving Toronto. Really happy with these guys and my Gallagher Chevrolet. The car was really good. I think we are due for a wet race. It's something that I've always loved to do."
