Notes:
Qualifying at Texas Motor Speedway for Saturday night's race saw Team Penske's Chevrolets pushed to their limits in an attempt to qualify with the fastest average speed. Simon Pagenaud and the No. 22 DXC Technology Dallara/Chevrolet were the quickest amongst the team's three cars - running an average speed of 219.355 mph - qualifying fifth. Not far behind qualifying seventh, Josef Newgarden and the No. 2 Fitzgerald USA Dallara/Chevrolet found an average speed of 218.666 mph. With some issues battling understeer, Will Power and the No. 12 Verizon Dallara/Chevrolet settled for a 15th-place starting position with an average speed of 217.899 mph. The teams will review their data from qualifying and the two practice sessions overnight in preparation of tomorrow night's race.
