Championship title contenders Josef Newgarden and Simon Pagenaud both qualified in the Firestone Fast Six on Saturday afternoon at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and will start up front as they each race for their second IndyCar Series Championship. Newgarden, driving the No. 2 Hitachi Dallara/Chevrolet, will start fourth on Sunday, with Pagenaud, driving the No. 22 DXC Technology Dallara/Chevrolet, qualifying sixth. Despite not being in the Championship hunt, Will Power and the No. 12 Verizon Dallara/Chevrolet was fast all afternoon long as well, but just missed out on making it into the top-six in qualifying. He will start Sunday’s season-finale in the seventh position.
