Team Notes: The field for Sunday's Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio was set during the Saturday afternoon time trials at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The 2.258-mile circuit halfway between Cleveland and Columbus is a tight, technical course, and those characteristics played a hand in qualifying for Team Penske. Scott McLaughlin continued his climb back to his early-season form by placing his No. 3 Odyssey Battery Chevy in the second position for his third front-row start of 2022. Josef Newgarden – last year's pole and race winner at Mid-Ohio – was held up by slower traffic on his final run in the first round and was unable to transfer to the Top 12. Newgarden and the No. 2 PPG Chevy team will start tomorrow's race from the 14th position. Will Power and the No. 12 Verizon 5G Chevy team finished with the fastest time in the first group of round one, but a call from race control deemed that during the session he impeded the lap of former teammate, Helio Castroneves. The penalty was the loss of his two fastest laps, dropping him to the 21st position.
