Victory Celebration
Castroneves celebrates with his team after winning his third career race at Detroit, the place where the fence climb all started.

Victory Celebration
Imitation is the Sincerest form of Flattery

When Helio Castroneves scored his first major open-wheel victory in Detroit on June 18, 2000, he was so overcome with excitement and emotion that he climbed the fence to celebrate the moment with the fans. Since then, Castroneves has executed his signature victory fence climb another 25 times, including three times at the fabled Indianapolis Motor Speedway (he didn't climb the fence in Chicago in 2008, as he was declared the winner while on the podium).

While this celebration is uniquely reflective of Castroneves’ personality and enthusiasm, several other drivers including NASCAR’s Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick have imitated it to celebrate their major victories.
