Travis Law
Competition Director, Team Penske
Travis Law has played a key role in the success of Team Penske across the NTT INDYCAR SERIES (NICS), IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Series (IWSC) and the World Endurance Championship (WEC) since joining the organization in 2007. His career has spanned multiple championships and technical fields, culminating in his current role as Competition Director for the organization's INDYCAR and Sports Car operations, both in Mooresville, NC and Manheim, Germany.
Law has held the position of Competition Director for Porsche Penske Motorsport, the two-car, global sports car alliance between Porsche Motorsport and Team Penske in both IWSC and WEC competition since the start of the 2022 season. During his time on the program, Porsche Penske Motorsport has secured consecutive wins in the 24 Hours of Daytona (2024, 2025), a 2025 victory in the 12 Hours of Sebring, the 2024 IWSC championship in the GTP category and the 2024 WEC Hypercar driver crown. Law's responsibilities expanded this season as he was named Competition Director for Team Penske's successful INDYCAR program in July of 2025.
Originally from Maquoketa, Iowa, Law grew up around racing, building cars as a hobby in his teens and developing a passion for motorsports that would eventually lead to his professional career. After graduating from NASCAR Technical Institute in 2007, he was among the first wave of students hired at Team Penske, immediately contributing to the team's Championship-winning Penske Porsche LMP2 car in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS).
Law began his Penske tenure as a tire specialist on the Porsche RS Spyder program and worked his way up to a mechanic role. At the conclusion of the ALMS program in 2008, he continued his work as mechanic on the Grand-Am Series prototype program in 2009. The next year, Law transitioned to the team's NICS program, contributing to victories with drivers Ryan Briscoe and Will Power.
In 2013, he was promoted to the role of chief mechanic, taking the reigns of the No. 3 Chevrolet driven by Helio Castroneves. Eventually, Law transitioned to the No. 2 Chevrolet team, where he helped driver Josef Newgarden win his second INDYCAR SERIES championship in 2019 and enjoyed over 15 race victories before shifting his focus to the Porsche Peske Motorsport program in 2023.
Law resides in Charlotte, NC with his wife.
